When the Lackey family moved to the Red Bird Ranch in Guysville, Ohio in 1973, they brought with them traditional family values and a hardworking attitude. Once a much larger property with sheep, pigs, and grain, the Ranch has downgraded over the past 20 years as a result of the integration and stricter regulations in the farming industry. Still, the family remains close and everyone continues to do their part and help out on the farm.
Keith Lackey prepares to load soybeans into a harvesting bin early in the morning. Keith is the third of 4 children. His older brothers, Glenn and Brian, and younger sister, Becky, all live near the family farm. Though everyone has been forced to find another form of income, they continue to help their mother, LolaMae, tend to the farm chores on a daily basis.
